  • Discuss how Paul’s reliance on the early Christian community parallels the roles and collaborative efforts within an Agile team. Reflect on specific examples from Acts 9:23–31 that highlight these

This assignment aims to deepen your understanding of both the biblical text and contemporary project management strategies while allowing you to draw meaningful connections between them.

The assignment is in two distinct parts. Be sure to include both parts in your paper and separate each part with an appropriate heading.

    Part 1

For Part 1, write a one- to two-page summary (no more than two pages, please) of your critical analysis and exploration of the connections between the supportive Christian community depicted in the book of Acts and the collaborative dynamics of Agile project management. Draw upon personal experiences while recognizing themes of community, collaboration, and adaptability in both contexts.

Your ideas should be supported by biblical principles (and Scripture) as well as articles you find from industry sources on the internet.

Your paper should explore the following themes:

    Supportive Community:

Discuss how Paul’s reliance on the early Christian community parallels the roles and collaborative efforts within an Agile team. Reflect on specific examples from Acts 9:23–31 that highlight these dynamics.

How do the roles in Agile (such as the Scrum Master and Product Owner) echo the mentoring and supportive relationships found in the book of Acts? Include specific examples of how these roles help achieve project goals.

    Adaptability:

Analyze how Paul’s need to adapt his mission to different challenges and contexts reflects the Agile principle of adaptability. Provide instances from Acts 9:23–31 where adaptation plays a crucial role in Paul’s journey.

In what ways do Agile methodologies emphasize the importance of adaptability in project management? Share how this principle might mirror the experiences of individuals or teams facing challenges within faith-based or community settings.

    Trust and Shared Responsibility:

Examine the collaborative atmosphere of the early church as a means of fostering trust and shared responsibility. What actions or behaviors from Acts 9:23–31 exemplify this sense of community?

Compare this to how Agile teams cultivate a similar environment. Discuss specific Agile practices that build trust and encourage shared responsibility among team members.

    Personal Reflection:

Identify a personal experience in which you have participated in a supportive community (faith-based or otherwise) or within an Agile project team. Describe how the principles of community, collaboration, and adaptability were present in that experience.

Reflect on how these principles helped you or your team overcome challenges and achieve success. What insights can you draw from this experience in relation to the themes discussed in Acts and Agile methodologies?

    Reflection Questions to Consider:

How do the concepts of faith and teamwork intermingle in your experiences?

In what ways can lessons from community dynamics in the book of Acts apply to modern-day teamwork strategies?

What changes could be made within your own community or Agile team to better embody the principles discussed in this assignment?

    Use of Artificial Intelligence

Whilst AI tools can be helpful in assisting learning, when it comes to assessment, the Academic Misconduct Procedure is clear that this should be a student’s own original work and not the work of other people or AI tools.

Academic Integrity Guidance Academic integrity is the attitude of approaching your academic work honestly, by completing your own original work, attributing, and acknowledging your sources when necessary. Understanding good academic practice in written and oral work is a key element of academic integrity. It is a positive aspect of joining an academic community, showing familiarity with, and acknowledging sources of evidence. The skills you require at higher education may differ from those learned elsewhere such as school or college.

You will be required to follow specific academic conventions which include acknowledging the work of others through appropriate referencing and citation as explicitly as possible. If you include ideas or quotations which have not been appropriately acknowledged, this may be seen as plagiarism which is a form of academic misconduct. If you require support around referencing, please contact the Faculty’s Academic Development Department or the University wide Centre for Academic Success.

It is important to recognise that seeking out learning around academic integrity will help reduce the risk of misconduct in your work. Skills such as paraphrasing, referencing and citation are integral to acting with integrity and you can develop and advance these key academic skills through the Faculty’s Academic Development Department.

    Use of Artificial Intelligence

Whilst AI tools can be helpful in assisting learning, when it comes to assessment, the Academic Misconduct Procedure is clear that this should be a student’s own original work and not the work of other people or AI tools.

The Use of AI Tools – Student Guidelines follows the same guidelines your lecturers use. If you are unsure of whether AI is appropriate within your work, please read the guidelines or ask your lecturer. For advice and guidance around academic writing, please visit the Centre for Academic Success.

Academic Misconduct Academic misconduct is conduct which has or may have the effect of providing you with an unfair advantage by relying on dishonest means to gain advantage and which therefore compromises your academic integrity.

The Academic Misconduct Procedure sets out the process we will follow, and the penalties we may apply, in cases where we believe you may have compromised your academic integrity by committing academic misconduct.

The Academic Misconduct Procedure and information about academic support is available at:

Turnitin: Similarity checking It is advisable to obtain a formative Turnitin scan before submitting your work to support you in identifying areas which may need altering. Please visit the University`s ‘Turnitin at BCU’ Moodle site.

Work that is submitted and scanned through this service is not stored on the main Turnitin system and this is not your submitted work.

Please note this does not provide a report regarding AI generated work.

Click here to enter text. You have obtained a work experience position at a local medium-sized company that operates in the car rental industry. The company currently relies heavily on manual processes and basic spreadsheets to manage bookings, customer records, and vehicle availability.

The management team is aware that their current use of IT is limited and outdated. They are concerned that this is slowing down operations, causing booking errors, and reducing customer satisfaction. They have asked you to investigate how modern technology could be used to improve their business processes, increase efficiency, and make the company more competitive in the market.

    Task

The director of the company has asked you to prepare a presentation for her and the company managers in which you evaluate how technology can be used to support an organisation’s aims.

Your presentation needs to cover the following:

    • an explanation of the different types of business processes which can be found in a typical organisation and how these support a company’s needs
    • an explanation of how businesses can use technology to support their business processes and an analysis of the impact that business processes and technology can have on an organisation

The director has also asked you to include in the presentation an evaluation of how effective various technologies can be in improving business processes and meeting an organisation’s needs. Your presentation should include some real life examples of how technology has improved business processes and your discussion of the issues must be clear, balanced and fluent.

    Assignment Task 2

Learning aim(s)  B: Examine an organisation’s business processes and activities to inform improvements

C: Develop a plan to improve an organisation’s business processes and activities.

    Assignment title Planning business change

    Vocational Scenario or Context

You have obtained a work experience position at a local medium-sized car rental company. They have asked you to investigate how technology can be used to improve their booking and rental process.

The current paper-based and spreadsheet-based booking system is slow and prone to errors. The company wants a process which:

    • makes booking a vehicle quick and easy, ensuring all required customer and rental information is collected correctly
    • prevents double-booking or selecting unavailable vehicles
    • ensures that records of vehicle availability, pricing, rental duration, and customer details are accessible to all staff
    • ensures that booking status and vehicle return dates are updated in real time

    Task

The director of the company found your presentation on using technology to support business processes very interesting. He has now asked you to develop and evaluate a plan to improve the vehicle booking process, including the use of technology.

To do this you need to complete the following tasks:

    • Have a meeting with one of the staff and discuss with them the current booking process, and review the attached booking form, taking notes on your discussions
    • You should then:
o Create a model (annotated diagram) of the current booking process.
o Write an analysis of the current booking system and how it supports the business requirements.
o Identify where improvements could be made in the existing process.
    • Develop a plan using change management processes to improve the booking process, including the use of technology, to meet the business requirements.
    • Take part in a discussion with the company director in which you review your plan, taking notes on what is said. Following your discussion, refine and improve your plan based on the feedback received and write an assessment of how useful the feedback was in helping you to improve the plan.
    • Review your improved plan with the director and justify the decisions you have made in the plan. Your tutor will record the discussion to provide evidence.
    • Write an evaluation in which you consider both the model of the existing booking process and your plan to improve it and how effective your suggested improvements are likely to be. Your evaluation needs to consider both positive and negative aspects and be clear, balanced and fluent with realistic examples which are specific and measurable. Present evidence that you have shown individual responsibility, effective time-management in your investigation and planning of the improvements to the business process making high-quality justified recommendations and decisions. This should include a task plan for completing the assignment and a witness testimony from your tutor. For example, you need to show how you have:
    • Planned and managed your time and met targets.
    • Reviewed and responded to outcomes including the use of feedback from others.
    • Behaved appropriately while completing the assignment – including professionalism, etiquette, being supportive of others, timely and appropriate leadership, accountability and individual responsibility.
    • Evaluated outcomes to help inform high-quality justified recommendations and decisions.
    • Used appropriate methods of communication effectively.
